Lady Macbuffy: A Netflix Queue

1. Buffy the Vampire Slayer
No one loves a powerful female lead more than Lady Macbeth so when she heard about Buffy she immediately added it and Angel to her list. As with anyone who watches the show, it became an instant favorite of hers. She came for Buffy, but stayed for Willow. In Willow she saw a younger version of herself, a strong, powerful woman who takes crap from no man.

2. Charmed
Three sisters, who are witches. Sound familiar to anyone else? Of course Lady M is down for a prophecy anytime, anywhere, but she'd like to know a little more about this whole magic thing she's getting herself into. When the 4th sister was introduced in Charmed Lady Macbeth couldn't help but wonder if she was a little weird herself.

3. Grey's Anatomy
Crazy didn't just hit Lady Macbeth like a train, there was a period before she went bonkers where she knew she was going insane. So in an attempt to self-diagnose she started watching Grey's. If she wasn't crazy before all of the blood and the drama might just have pushed her over the edge.

4. Marco Polo
While stumbling through the many options on Netflix Lady M stumbled upon this Netflix original gem. Marco Polo a historical drama about Marco Polo in the Mongolian empire in the court of Kublai Khan the founder of the Yuan dynasty. While watching this 1 season hit Lady Macbeth noticed something intriguing, it was her life. The most interesting character was not a man but instead Empress Chabi, the wife to the Khan. Not only was she just as demanding as Lady Macbeth she also uses the power of suggestion to "encourage" her husband to maintain the crown through murder.

  1. I LOVED your relation to Charmed!! I've never seen the show, but I looked it up once I read it in this post and I think it's really interesting that you thought of Lady Macbeth as the possible 4th witch. This is a very cool connection because her influence over Macbeth is similar to the witches/supernatural influence over him. Nice post icky vicky!!

  2. I really like all of your suggestions--they fit perfectly with what Lady M would like. I loved that you went throughout the book and Lady Macbeth's mental state and connected it with the shows you chose. This was very original and creative. Great job! I agree with Chloe too about how Charmed is a good suggestion in terms of LM as a fourth witch.

  3. This was awesome! If Lady M was in the 21st century and had Netflix, she would definitely watch all of these shows. Your descriptions connected really well to Lady M's personality and her ambitions in the play. I really liked the connection between the Empress and Lady M because they're almost like the same person, but in different time periods.

  4. Love love love! I love that you mentioned how LM would see a younger version of herself in WIllow. Also well okay I'm biased I just love Charmed but power to the sisters {and witches} is totally up her ally. Also the 4th sister YES completely parallels with LM except LM's fashion is not awkwardly 90s so that is a bummer. Smart choice with Greys because to be honest I think we all have kinda self diagnosed while watching a dramatic episode. I had never heard of Marco Polo but I agree that LM would watch it and would love the parts about the wifey. Great blog post!
